Port Orford Cedar Archtop Guitar Soundboards
The properties of this wood species are ideal for a variety of applications in acoustic and electric guitars. From the fabrication side, POC is stiff, tough, glues up well, easily worked and takes an almost glass-like finish, appearing much like antique ivory in color. It was first used for acoustic soundboards, but is also ideal for backs, sides, bracing, and necks. POC is also a perfect choice for electric guitar bodies and necks. From the player’s perspective, POC guitars are unlike any other guitars. The first thing you notice is the weight. POC basses average only 6 lbs., and electric guitars 5 lbs..! Acoustic guitars usually range from 2 ¼ lbs. to 3 lbs. Most importantly, the tonal qualities of POC are exquisite, with excellent resonance and sustain. Note: Our POC soundboards are photographed dry, and are usually not sanded. Some sap marks may be present, but are only superficial.
