Building an electric guitar takes a great amount of time, skill and effort, and the results are never guaranteed. Every component in your guitar, will affect the sound of your instrument. Adding panels of distinctive tonewood, sandwiched between the top and body can improve the sound or voice of your next guitar. These tone panels are typically .18" to .25" thickness.

Why start with anything less than great wood and a great idea? Using tone panels can help create a guitar or bass with the best quality sound possible. The guitar tone panel sets we offer are hand selected to produce superior results.

We offer tone panels for standard solid body and bass size guitars in Douglas Fir, Port Orford Cedar, Redwood, and occasionally other species.

Electric guitars vary greatly in sound, look and playability. Different designs, quality of craftsmanship, electronics and choice of woods make them sound, look and feel different from one another. Building tone Panels into your guitar is yet another technique to improve sound. As an integrated part of the instrument, they can impart added sustain, brilliance or warmth, depending on the wood species selected. Tonewood is the term generally used to designate wood with desirable and consistent resonant qualities, used in the making of musical instruments. The tonewood selected for every component of a solid body guitar is an important factor in the way it sounds. Tone panels built into your instrument can improve the sound. Each tonewood species and cut has its own unique characteristics.

Some were well known by luthiers, but others, like Myrtlewood, Claro, Franquette & Bastogne Walnut, Port Orford Cedar, Redwood, Pistachio, Olive, Osage Orange and Douglas Fir are just now gaining notoriety.
